MedImmune Sells Rights to Transplant Drug
 

CHICAGO, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Medimmune Inc. (MEDI.O: Quote, Profile , Research) on Monday said it completed the sale of the rights to a drug to prevent a disease associated with organ transplants for $50 million to ZLB Behring, a unit of CSL Ltd. (CSL.AX: Quote, Profile , Research).

ZLB Behring will pay an additional $70 million if the drug, CytoGam, meets sales targets.

Medimmune said ZLB Behring has made a one-time upfront payment of $50 million to Medimmune, plus equipment and inventory payments, for full worldwide rights to CytoGam.

The antibody-enriched intravenous solution is used to prevent cytomegalovirus, which is associated with transplantation of the kidney, lung, liver, pancreas and heart.
