If putting a dog in his hospital bed, helps Pete Logan get out of it sooner, then his doctors are willing to work around Gizmo.
Pete recently became the first person at Inova Fairfax Hospital to receive a second lung transplant, a re-transplant after his first one rejected.
Pete says each day gets easier.
"I can breathe a lot deeper. I could tell that right away. I'm still on oxygen which is due to a blood clot. Each day is getting better."
That blood clot he mentioned is a new complication, but Pete's parents are optimistic.
The patient got to meet another man who received a lung from the same anonymous donor. And he wants to make sure the family of that person knows how much he appreciates them. Doctors hope Pete will be strong enough to leave the hospital by the end of this week.
